To the question "How to learn to listen to yourself," the French have their own answer - autrui. This harmonious term of the philosopher Sartre can be translated as "It's me, but not me." Why is this amazing metaphor almost recognized by the French motto?

The concept of autrui reveals a human being. Something very similar to the real “I”, not knowing and not having a limit, something bordering on animal instinct and human emotions and feelings. I well remember that sunny day in Nice when my professor of visual anthropology, Monsieur Zuttoni, so eagerly tried to convey to students the importance of knowing and understanding himself in a broad sense.

Autrui is expressed in cinema, in art as mutants, hybrids. In general, the half-man: Spider-Man, Harry Potter, Frankenstein, Edward Scissorhands, Marvel and DC heroes and so on. Why do we love them?

Because they are special, individual and genuine. They are a reflection of everyone. In the soul, everyone finds a response to a certain hero, a mutant. The meaning of autrui is that we, the people, accept it, do not change it and call it our essence, to which few people have access. We carefully hide it, keep it strictly locked, only letting it go when we “accidentally” lose control of ourselves. He lives in each of us, conducting dialogue every day with consciousness; Why did Sartre explain it as if there were two inside us: me and still the one who is not me?

Dialogues, disputes with oneself are a clear evidence for the philosopher that at least two exist inside a person. Man is always in search of harmony. So he needs to build relationships within himself. So, after all, we are not alone within ourselves. It is possible that there are even a few of us. Man is used to choosing between heart and mind. Initially, there is a harmless division within ourselves, and therefore we crave harmony, the bliss of clarity. After all, a person searches for the very “right” answer or way out all his life. He searches for his real “I”, not noticing that, most likely, he has not one. A person does not notice that there are a lot of borders set by society around. But in fact there are an infinite number of correct exits. A person sees only the outer cloud, sees that he is one living creature and is perceived as one person. But inside is a bottomless ocean. No one and nothing limits his inner world. Man as an unidentified, terribly beautiful space. And as dark as a black hole, as bright as the largest star. 

Happy personalities differ in that, taking their autrui (s), they create a team. If the first “I” is subject to change, then autrui is not. Autrui must be accepted as it is. Inside him is an incredible, superhuman strength. If you do not be on the side of his autrui, then he destroys the person. If to be on the same wavelength with him, making both of them feel good, he will exalt a person. Nobody has yet been able to analyze and change it. Many call autrui the heart and say they listen to the heart when they make a decision. When we fall in love, the whole of our essence enters the game and autrui plays a big role in love. Autrui chooses who to love, so we submit to love. The heart made a choice without asking for permission or consent. This is a clear example of a freedom-loving, non-subjective "I" that is in each of us. Autrui has many names, many different conflicting descriptions. This is our biggest mystery within us. And the secret is to listen to your wonderful and strong autrui more often. So his voice becomes louder, and it becomes clear to us what we want for our happiness.
